Ill people don’t mind being bored…

12 Jul 2012 2min read

…at least that’s what you’d have to conclude if you look at the devices and formulations that ill people are offered.

I don’t like to wear the same colours every day, I don’t like to do the same things and I certainly try to vary what I drink and eat. We thrive on variety, we seek it out. We’ll give up consistency, quality, even things we like, in search of ‘different’. Ever tried something you thought you might not like? Why did you do that?

So why do we give ill people boring stuff?

If I needed a dry powder inhaler, I suspect I would want one that I might like to change as my mood, or outfit, or tastes, change. Likely as not, I will be using this device daily for a considerable period, I will quickly become bored with it… or maybe that doesn’t matter?

How many watches do you have at home? I have an ‘everyday’ watch, a really nice ‘professional’ watch and one that is ‘sporty’. I think I might like an inhaler like that.

And I don’t think I’d want one that always tasted the same. I think I might like something that was ‘minty’ one day, ‘herby’ the next. Even if I didn’t like ‘herby’, I think I might just want it NOT TO BE THE SAME EVERYDAY.
